Impression of Roses

Impression of Roses

Hello!! I know it’s been a long time since I’ve posted here. I’ve had other things taking up my time the last 6 months—a part time, temporary job unrelated to photography (which will end in a few weeks); getting my business photography website spiffed up (it now has its own blog instead of using this one); and just general business stuff. Not to mention a personal life. So much to do, so little time.

Impression of Roses is an experiment. It’s obviously not your straight up photograph of roses in a bowl. My intention was to have the image seem outside your field of focus, just a bit out of reach, you know what it is but it isn’t clear. Hence the name Impression. I’m actually a little nervous to put it out there in the world for everyone to see.

Curious to read what you think about the image.

p.s. I’m not sure what direction I’ll be taking this website. Probably lean towards more educational, experimental…not sure yet. I don’t want it to be a duplicate of my portrait and nature photography blog.

It has the feeling of a really old painting that has seen so days in the sun. I would not advise hanging in a eye doctor’s office(unless you could use a before and after shot), but it does have a very warm and old feeling. In an antique setting with the proper frame I would stop and look.

What do you think?
