Garrison Keillor, Prairie Home Companion live radio broadcast from Avon, MN

Today, July 4th, 2009, little Avon, MN (pop. 1100 give or take) had a live radio broadcast of Garrison Keillor’s Prairie Home Companion radio show on NPR. This was the 35th anniversary of his show, and he felt this was a good place to celebrate that. I haven’t heard the final count, but organizers were expecting 3000–4000 people. WOW!!! We saw cars from Oklahoma, Maryland, Iowa, Kansas, and of course Minnesota. No doubt there were others, too. Click on the photo to take you to my photo site for a sampling of the day’s event. (Correction–in Sunday’s paper it said there were 10,000 people here!!!!)

Very cool! I didn’t know you were there — I heard part of the show last night. My NPR station runs a re-run on Sunday — I’ll probably listen to it again.
