Empty Roads…

Empty Roads…A Personal Photography Project

I’m always looking for themes in my photography. And when I notice that I’ve unintentionally photographed similar things, then I try to keep this thought in mind when I’m out shooting in the future. Often while in the process of looking for the things you often photograph, which for me are trees, flowers, and landscapes, you have to get there somehow. Well, since you have to park your car on the side of the road, the road is becoming one of the subjects I’ve started photographing.

Rural Minnesota Road

The Rural Minnesota image was taken several years ago. I was up early on a Spring morning taking advantage of the frost covered landscape. Pretty safe to stand in the middle of the road here.

Montana Winter Road

You might recognize this Montana image from an earlier post. (If you love this image, you can buy it here.) It was SO incredibly cold out, but a sun dog was out, and what do you know? An empty road, too. (And what’s a sundog? Find out here on Wikipedia.)

Of course I don’t usually photograph roads with cars on them, otherwise the theme would have to be called “Roads with Cars”. 🙂 But this next image actually had a little bit of traffic. Not a lot, but I still had to jump out fast to catch the span of road without another car in it.

Next on the blog will be the 3rd installment of Stories to Tell — Holland Germany 2012. If you missed the first two, here is Part 1 and Part 2. Part 3 will have  images of Wurzberg, Germany and the German Autobahn (definitely NOT an empty road).

And I don’t mention this often in these blogs posts, but be sure to check out my nature photography that is for sale at Barb Kellogg Photography. Most images that I share with you in this blog aren’t for sale, as it would be overwhelming for a customer to decide.

If you’ve liked this blog post, please share it with your friends. Thank you!

ciao!
